Forexpress Setup guide

This is the setup guide for the forexpress wordpress theme you have downloaded. Please read through the steps to understand how to install and customize the Forexpress theme for your blog.

Download and install Forexpress:

You have already downloaded the zip file forexpress.zip. You will find 2 folders in the theme pack.

1. Forexpress theme
2. Plugin required for the theme.

Upload the the plugin ( popularity contest ) to your site/wp-content/plugins folder via FTP. Once uploaded, go to the plugin section of your wordpress admin panel and activate the Popularity contest plugin.

Next upload the theme folder to your site/wp-content/themes folder via FTP. Once uploaded activate the theme via the design section of admin panel.

Customization:

Once the theme is installed go to the custom theme option page of the forexpress theme. You will find different options which deals with the various modules of this magazine theme. I will explain them one by one.

1. Featured content gallery

Image

Featured content gallery is the module located at the top part of the theme. It shows a content glider with images of 680 x 220 , which is associated with posts via a custom field.
You can select a particular category and number of posts to display in this module. Once a category and number is selected, the module will display images from the latest posts of that category.

Image

You can assign these images to posts via custom fields. After making a post scroll down to the custom field section and enter the following custom field values.

Custom field key - feature ( case sensitive)

Custom field value - url of the image

2. Miniposts Settings

The minipost section is located below the featured content gallery. This section displays latest post from 6 different categories , which you may select from the theme option page.
Each of this mini post will have an image (310 x100px) associated with it. This image is entered via custom fields. The custom field key and value for displaying images with minipost is as given below.

Custom field key - homethumb( case sensitive)

Custom field value - url of the image

3. Featured Video Settings

There is a section on the sidebar which will display the featured video of your site.
Select the category where you post videos in the custom theme option page.
Make sure to resize your embedded video width is not more than 295 px to avoid overlapping.

4. Currency converter Settings

There is a built in currency converter app which can be displayed on the sidebar. You can chose it display or not from the options page.

Image

Check the check box if you want to display the app.
Leave unchecked to disable its display on sidebar.

5.Various headlines Settings

This is the module located below the minipost section.
This is used to display a list of recent post titles from 6 different categories.

Image

To enable this you have to select two options.

1. Select the number of post titles to be displayed on list.
2. Select six different categories to display under 6 different tabs.

Image

6. Feedburner Settings

There is a feedburner email subscription form enabled on the sidebar. For this to function right, you have to create an account at feedburner.com, and add your domain for feed management. Then obtain the widget code for email subscription. This is located under the publicize option. You can find the 7 digit feed-id from this widget code.

Image

Copy that 7 digit id and enter it where it is required on the theme options page.

Image

7. Banner ad Settings

There are four 125x125 banner ads located on the sidebar. You can enter the banner image url and the link via theme option page.

8.Adsense Settings

Enter your adsense id where it is specified to activate adsense units located on the template.

It is the featured content glider alert. It will show that alert till you select a category of posts to display there.

FYI I have put in an article in a category and an image for the Featured Post and I still get the error message "no content on page 2! loading page 1 instead!" when I visit the web site. I use Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome when I check out web sites I build and the error happens the very first time I visit with each browser but will load properly after that. I love this theme, great job.

Hi waqaslone,
I could fix the problem.

Open the file "glide.php" template, look at the line 8 => "selected: 1" and replace the value of 1 for 0.

That's it, problem fixed ;). It took me a few days to fix it, jeje
Jinsona thanks for the great theme. It is very good

All the best.

As I wrote somewhere else in this forum, I decided to use this wonderful forexpress theme.

However, by looking at the result we can say that my mods led to use forexpress as a backbone for my design. I removed the featured video, the minipost, the currency converter and the various headline modules to keep the rest. I also changed the header and removed the 2 sidebars (I prefer to have only one sidebar).

If you want to see the result you can go here : http://parlonsfoot.e3b.org

I should mention that my site is in french (one of my project is to make it also in english) but you can speak english if yu want to leave any comment.

So to conclude, I'd like to thank you again for your work. One thing, I know you don't want us to modify the footer. I would just find better to add a link to your website to remind to all the visitors that you did the design. This is not mentionned on the theme.
