This is the setup guide for the Monezine magazine theme. Please read this to know how to setup monezine on your blog effortlessly.
Monezine theme is Wp 2.7 ready with threaded comments feature. So make sure your Wordpress is updated to 2.7.
1. Install Theme and Plugin
Once extracted you will find the theme folder and the plugin folder
* Upload the theme to the themes directory of your wordpress.
* Upload the plugins to your plugins directory ( popularity-contest ,wp-pagenavi)
( Notice: There are a plugin built into the theme. ( Limit post plugin ) So if you already have it installed on your blog , deactivate that plugin.So that it will not create a conflict )
Activate your theme and plugins once they are uploaded.
2. Theme options
The theme options can be accessed under the appearance tab.
1. Featured Sliding content area.
This is the module on the top part of the theme. It displays 3 posts from a specific category as a sliding content. It also features an image along with the post.
To set it up you need to select a category listed in the theme option. Once a category is selected , the content area will display the post automatically.
2.About Us area .
Here you can set an image and a few text which describes you or your blog. You need to enter the image url and the text where it is required on the option page.
3.Setting up banners .
This theme is designed with lot of banner space included. it is distributed on the header and the sidebar.It will generate some click cash for you.
In the options page you can find the different banners sets. There you have the option to setup the banner image url and the target site url .
4.Setting up adsense .
There are two different ad units used on this theme.
1. 468x60 banner on the sliding content
2. 300x250 on the single post content.
You can find the space to enter your adsense script in the theme option page.
3. How to setup Thumbnails ?
Images are associated with the posts using thumbnails. This feature is used on the homepage and on the sliding content area.
To put image on posts, once you have entered the post title, content ,categories etc scroll down to the custom field section. In the custom field area, enter screen as the Name and the url of the image (160px x 100px) as the value.
On sliding content you will be using a bigger image.For that you have to create another custom field area and enter feature as the Name and the url of the image (450px x 180px) as the value.
