Welcome to the setup guide of the Scarlett WordPress theme.
Install Theme and Plugins
Download the theme from its download location and extract the zip file. Explore the folder to find the theme and the plugins.
Do not upload the downloaded folder as it is to your themes directory. . Explore the folder and find the theme folder and the plugins.
1. Upload the theme to your themes directory.
2. Open the plugins folder and upload each plugins to your plugins directory and activate them.

Once the Scarlett theme and plugins are activated you are ready to setup the theme options.
Theme Options
Theme options are accessible under the appearance tab on the admin-panel.
1. Sliding Panel Settings.
This section displays a carousal of images ( 200 x 100 -auto re sized ) assigned to posts via customfield. You can select a category from the drop down list and the number of images to be displayed.
2. Featured Video
You can display a featured video embedded on the sidebar. Just get the embed code of the video and enter it in the theme option. Remember to change the height- width parameter in the embed code as suitable for the theme.
3. About Me settings
Here you can set an image and a few text which describes you or your blog. You need to enter the image url and the text where it is required on the option page.
4. 125 x 125 Banner ads
The theme displays four 125x125 banner ads on the sidebar. You can setup the banner image and target link from the theme option page.
5. Twitter settings
There is a twitter section on the theme which displays your twitter updates. To enable this just enter your twitter name in the theme option.
6. Adsense setup
The theme built with pre- defined adsense unit locations.
a. 468x 60 ad unit is located on the header of the theme which is site wide.
b. 300x250 box ad unit is located on the individual post content.
c. 728x15 ad unit on below the slider on the home page..
To get them working all you need to do is enter you adsense code in the theme option page where it is specified.
HOW TO SETUP THE IMAGES ON THE SLIDER AND POSTS?
On the theme you will be using custom images on 2 modules.
1. The featured content image slider.
2. Thumbnails associated with animated post tabs on the sidebar.
A single image associated to post via custom field is displayed on these two sections. The images are re sized and cropped by the timthumb.php file, which is located in the theme.
To enable this, whenever you make a new post you will need to add a custom field. Scroll down below the text editor and click on the "custom fields" link. In the "Name" section, input "screen" (this is case sensitive). In the "Value" area, input the url to your image. Your image will automatically be resized and cropped.
There is folder named "cache in the theme files. Plz make sure you CHMOD it to 777 so as the timthumb to function correctly. Make sure your host also supports GD library ( which is default in most cases.)
